Each year the UMD chapter of AIAA receives a number of notifications about job and scholarship opportunities for our members. These opportunities are posted below.

Registration for the 2020 AIAA SciTech Forum is now open! The AIAA Diversity Scholars Program provides opportunities for underrepresented university students with an interest in aerospace, including but not limited to STEM fields, to attend an AIAA forum or co-sponsored event. Full-time students from U.S. institutions are invited to apply for scholarships to attend the 2020 AIAA Science and Technology Forum and Exposition , to be held 6–10 January in Orlando, FL.
Students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, gender minorities, individuals with disabilities, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and first-generation students will receive priority in funding. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, 2 October. Apply Now.
AIAA SciTech Forum covers the science, technologies, and policies that are shaping the future of aerospace. The forum is the largest event for aerospace research, development, and technology in the world—bringing together 11 individual technical disciplines. The 2020 forum will explore the aerospace industry’s contributions to a sustainable future.
Each year in the Fall, GE Recruiters come to campus for a GE Info Day and then return a few weeks later to interview students for co-op/intern positions at the GE businesses. This year, the GE Info Day is scheduled for September 20th and the interview dates for GE Aviation are Oct 2nd and 3rd. Steve will be interviewing Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Juniors for engineering positions at GE Aviation for the Spring or Summer of 2020.
GE Aviation is a great place to work with plenty of challenging roles available in a high technology business . Our co-ops perform real engineering work from the start. As students approach their graduation, they would have the opportunity to interview for a permanent role at GE Aviation. These entry level programs include opportunities for rotating work roles and technical education completed before the student selects a permanent role in our business.
For Senior Mechanical and Aero students there is an opportunity to apply for the entry level Edison Engineering Development program. Those students would need to go to gecareers.com and search for job number 3277167.
